Holiday Pops Concert in Marblehead

The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor’s Holiday Pops concert will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9 in Abbot Hall., 188 Washington Street, Marblehead, MA. Maestro Dirk Hillyer and the Hillyer Festival Orchestra, Jim Mosher Principal Horn, will present an evening of seasonal music. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a champagne reception for all ticket holders, and the concert will start promptly at 8 p.m. Maestro Hillyer will conduct the Festival Orchestra, presenting holiday music from many cultures.

The concert is an opportunity for family and friends to enjoy great music, and away to kick off the season with family and friends. Holiday candles and wreaths will decorate Abbot Hall’s auditorium, adding to the festive scene of round tables on the floor and seats with great views in the balcony.

The concert in the auditorium at Peabody City Hall is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6 PM with cabaret-style seating. There is also balcony seating without ordering dinner. It is always a festive event and has been very popular during its 20+ years.

Jim plays Beethoven Symphony No. 3, the "Eroica"

Symphony By The Sea presents an all Beethoven program highlighted by Symphony No. 3 by Beethoven, the “Eroica”. With its unusual scoring for 3 horns, they are featured prominently throughout the symphony, particularly in the famous Scherzo section of the 3rd movement.

All concerts by Symphony By The Sea take place in the wonderfully restored Cabot Theatre in downtown Beverly, MA. Maestro Donald Palma is the esteemed conductor.

The concert is on November 19, 2023 at 3 PM. Tickets are available in advance at symphonybythesea.org or at the door of the Cabot Theatre, 286 Cabot Street in Beverly, MA (North Shore of Boston).

The Chorus and Orchestra of Saint Anne’s in-the-Fields church performs Gabriel Fauré’s lovely Requiem in its chamber version of 1893. This piece is a favorite of Jim, who will play the short horn solos.

This performance is an afternoon service and will take place at Saint Anne’s-in-the-Fields, 147 Concord Road, Lincoln, MA

European Expressions: Symphony By The Sea
