Massachusetts All-State Music Festival Audition Results, Jan. 21, 2017

Congratulations to my horn student Eliza Jones, 11th grader from Belmont, MA, who gained admission to the Massachusetts All-State Music Festival in the spring. Eliza will be among the top high school musicians in the state performing together. Well done!
I also want to give make mention of Linnea Metelmann and Andrew Descheneaux, both of whom received All-State recommendations. All three of these gifted hornists, plus Milind Sundaram, will be joining me this summer at the Saarburg International Chamber Music Festival in Germany.

Junior District Festival Audition Results, January, 2017

My middle school horn students had excellent results at the Eastern and Northeastern Junior District auditions on January 28, 2017:

Eastern Junior District:

Nicholas Lee: Principal Horn in Band (highest horn score in the entire District!)
Andrew Wang: First Horn-2 in Band
Elan Peng: Second Horn-2 in Band

Northeastern Junior District:

Lydia Haddad: Principal Horn in Orchestra (highest horn score in the entire District!)

Jim’s Brass Quintet, The Brass Consortium, at Mt. Auburn’s Service of Commemoration

The Brass Consortium, founded and directed by Jim, performs on the annual Memorial Week Service of Commemoration at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA.
The service honors all those interred at Mt. Auburn. It is held outdoors, next to the chapel on the grounds of Mt. Auburn, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 5:30 PM, and is free and open to the public.

Jim in Faculty Recital at New England Conservatory October 8, 2015

In honor of my 10th year teaching at New England Conservatory Preparatory School, I will be playing a faculty horn recital on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 8 PM. The recital will be at Williams Hall in the Jordan Hall building at NEC, 290 Huntington Ave. Boston, MA.

The recital will feature music for horn, violin and piano:
Cantilène by Dubois
Twilight Music by John Harrison
Horn Trio, op. 40 by Brahms.

My very able colleagues on the program are fellow faculty members:
